Rodwan Mahfouz M.D. was born and raised in the metro Detroit area. Growing up in Detroit, he learned from multiple cultures, ethnicities, and people from varying socioeconomic backgrounds, contributing to his diverse exposure and understanding of humanity. Dr. Mahfouz studied both business and pre-Medicine in his undergraduate studies, later graduating from Wayne State University School of Business with a finance degree.
After completing Medical School, Dr. Mahfouz matched in Internal Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) Flint Campus/ Hurley Medical Center. While in Flint, he worked with the hospital on local outreach, starting an educational community program with many of the city’s homeless shelters. Dr. Mahfouz focused more on Neurology Geriatrics and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) populations, enriching his interests in the mental health aspects of medicine. During his residency in internal medicine, Dr Mahfouz found another passion in teaching, and achieved certifications as Resident Clinical Instructor, joining the faculty/ staff at Michigan State University (MSU) School of Medicine (SOM).
Dr Mahfouz shifted his focus and training to psychiatry in New York. While in NY, he participated in research on anxiety disorders, and was invited to present his research on social anxiety at the American Psychiatric Association's 166th Annual Conference in San Francisco. During his psychiatric training, Dr.
Mahfouz was also voted Chairman of the Patient Safety Council Committee at Richmond University Medical Center, and was involved in the Quality Care Committee. His team was invited to the New York Presbyterian Healthcare System’s 12th Annual Quality Symposium. Dr. Mahfouz’s commitment and pursuit of knowledge led to his recognition, promotion and graduation as Chief Resident in the Department of Psychiatry. He worked in multiple practice settings including inpatient, outpatient, CPEP/ER, as well as Forensic Psychiatry while working at Rikers Island and the Manhattan Detention Center.
Dr. Mahfouz has experience practicing Psychiatry in New York , Michigan and Florida in person, and since the pandemic, remotely via telemedicine. He founded Triumph Psychiatry in 2022 so he may better cater and care for patients, and to accommodate their needs remotely. Dr. Mahfouz continues to explore less developed areas of medicine, and is committed to finding solutions to improve the healthcare system and the quality of care for all. His medical training, extensive experience and diverse background inform his holistic approach to psychiatry and behavioral therapy. As new discoveries of the human mind and psyche develop, Dr. Mahfouz is committed to growth, knowledge and the pursuit of excellence, delivering the highest quality and most up-to-date healthcare to his patients.
